Services
Four disciplines. One bespoke heritage.
Every project is as distinct as the subject it honours. Bricolage operates as a concierge service, guiding a seamless creative process to produce high-end, tangible artefacts. Each project is custom-built from our four core disciplines.
01 — Cinematic Film
Real stories in motion
We craft unique narratives, with contemporary interviews and utilising personal archives where relevant. Our approach brings the production values of editorial long-form to private stories: considered cinematography, sound design that carries emotion, and an edit that honours nuance.
What’s included
- Pre-production consultation & narrative planning
- On-location filming with professional crew
- Interview direction & archival footage integration (when requested)
- Colour grading, sound design, and final master
- Master file delivered in multiple formats (4K archival, web, streaming)
- Option to add episodic or feature-length structure
Who it’s for
Families, individuals, and organisations marking a milestone, honouring a legacy, or documenting a body of work that deserves to be preserved in film.
What is made
Outcomes depend on the scope, how you wish to document the story, and your goals. From a 5-minute interview or multiple episodes, to a 90-minute feature film including archival media.
From NZ$8,000. Every film is custom-scoped. Inquire for a quote.
02 — Oral History
The voice, preserved.
Intimate, podcast-style audio recordings that capture the nuance of voice and the spirit of storytelling in a timeless digital format. Oral History is the discipline of listening; shaped by the interviewer's craft, engineered with broadcast-grade audio, and arranged so that decades from now the next generation can learn, feel, and relate to the subject.
What’s included
- Guided interview sessions (in person)
- Broadcast-grade recording & post-production
- Chaptered audio master files
- Private online hosting accessible anywhere
Who it’s for
Anyone with a story better told in conversation than on the page: a grandparent recalling one formative decade, a founder documenting a company's origin, a family circling a shared loss, a maker explaining how they work. Scope can be a single afternoon or a year of sessions.
What is made
A one-hour recorded conversation with transcript. A four-episode private podcast built from a weekend of sessions. A ten-hour chaptered oral biography. Outcomes are shaped by how much you want to capture and how you want it listened to.
From NZ$2,000. Every engagement is custom-scoped. Inquire for a quote.
03 — Print
Something tangible. Something permanent.
A curatorial and editorial service for those with material (essays, journals, letters, artwork, photographs, recipes) who want to see it arranged into a book. Our craft is in the assembly: what goes on which page, in what order, at what size, and how the whole thing reads when you sit down with it. We write and ghost-write when writing is needed; more often, we work with what you've already made.
What’s included
- Curation and editorial sequencing of existing writing, imagery, or artwork
- Archival photo and artwork digitisation
- Writing, editing, and ghostwriting (where desired)
- Editorial design, typesetting, and layout
- Print production across softcover zines, perfect-bound paperbacks, and cloth-bound hardbacks
- Private editions from 3 copies upwards
Who it’s for
Artists, writers, photographers, chefs, and families with material already in hand: drawings accumulated over a decade, a parent's love letters, a collection of essays, a grandfather's journals, grandma's secret recipes, an Instagram feed nobody prints. Anyone who wants to transform their work or ideas into something tangible.
What is made
A 40-page softcover zine gathering a parent's poems. A 120-page photo book of one year on the coast. A 220-page hardback drawn from three generations of letters. Or a simple e-book. The format follows the material and the audience.
From NZ$2,000. Every book is custom-scoped. Inquire for a quote.
04 — Digital Archive
An emotional estate for generations
A secure, password-protected digital estate. A custom-designed website where your stories, films, photos, oral histories, and documents are preserved in one beautiful, accessible location. We future-proof the build with export-ready formats, documented provenance, and a structure your family can add to for generations.
What’s included
- Bespoke archive design tailored to your collection
- High-resolution scanning & digitisation of physical media
- Metadata cataloguing & searchable taxonomy
- Private web platform with granular access controls
- Annual maintenance & format migration
- Ingest workflows so new material can be added over time
Who it’s for
Anyone with material worth keeping findable: an artist consolidating a decade of studio work, a family preserving grandparents' home movies, a collector cataloguing one specific era, an organisation bringing an institutional history under one roof. Scaled to the material, not an enterprise brief.
What is made
A custom website address with passworded hosting for your stories and media. For example: organised galleries of photos with captions, an archive of images, letters, and home films with a searchable index, or a family history and family tree. Accessible to approved individuals worldwide. Each archive sized to the material and the audience.
From NZ$10,000. Every archive is custom-scoped. Inquire for a quote.
Bespoke by design
How we tailor the work.
No two projects share a brief. Some begin with a single interview; others span multiple continents and a decade of archives. Your project may draw on one discipline or all four; the structure emerges from the story, not the other way around.
After an initial consultation, we propose a scope that matches your ambition and your budget. Every engagement is custom-quoted. Pricing reflects the craft, the timeline, and the breadth of material, not a menu.
Your story deserves rigour.
Let’s begin with a conversation about what you’d like to preserve.
